Pop superstar Taylor Swift paid more than $160,000 for a New York City permit to host her high-profile wedding to NFL star Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden this month, according to Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Mamdani said Swift had already covered the permit costs, including expenses related to the city’s response to the event, after being asked whether she would reimburse the city for police overtime.

“Taylor Swift has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 for that event and for the response to that event,” the mayor said.

The star-studded wedding was held over two days in Manhattan and attracted hundreds of celebrity guests. The event required a significant police presence, with officers closing streets around Madison Square Garden to manage security and traffic.

While the total cost of the lavish celebration has not been officially disclosed, Forbes estimated it exceeded $20 million. Ahead of their wedding, Swift and Kelce also donated $26 million to several charitable organizations.
