Troops of the 32 Brigade, working alongside local vigilantes, have arrested two suspected terrorist informants during a clearance operation in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Military sources disclosed that the operation was carried out around 9:30 a.m. on May 25, 2026, in forest communities around Itagbolu, Iju, Igbogun Iju, and Iju Alagbun as part of ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities and strengthen security in the area.
According to the sources, two individuals suspected of supplying information to terrorist elements were apprehended during the exercise. The suspects have since been handed over to the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, for further investigation and necessary action.
In a related development, troops of the 242 Reconnaissance Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State.
The suspect, identified as Alhaji Gambo, 33, was arrested at about 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 24, during routine security screening at the Charlie 4 entry point into Monguno town.
Military sources said the suspect was intercepted while attempting to gain access into the town following intelligence-led surveillance operations in the area.
Items recovered from him included two packs of brake shoes, two packs of clutch accessories, a Demba Rover, a wristwatch, a torchlight, and several personal belongings.
The suspect and the recovered items are currently in the custody of Sector 3 Military Intelligence Battalion for further investigation. Security officials said preliminary interrogation is ongoing to determine any possible links between the suspect and terrorist logistics or support networks operating within the region.
They added that while the security situation across the theatre remains generally calm, it is still unpredictable, although troops’ morale and operational effectiveness remain high.
