The NFF has indicated that this friendly fixture will serve as crucial preparation for the Super Eagles as they gear up for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying double-header against South Africa and Benin Republic in June.
Despite their ongoing FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, led by coach Jose Peseiro, the Super Eagles have yet to secure a victory in the competition. In their initial match, the three-time African champions played to a 1-1 draw against the Crocodiles of Lesotho. The subsequent game saw them repeating the same result against the Warriors of Zimbabwe in their second encounter.
