Tinubu Appoints New Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new substantive Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS).

The announcement was made on Wednesday, July 30, by Major General Abdulmalik Jibril (rtd), Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), acting on behalf of the President.

The appointment will take effect from August 14, 2025.

According to the Board, the appointment follows the imminent retirement of the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, who is set to retire on August 11, 2025, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.

Major General Jibril praised Adeyemi’s extensive experience, noting that he transferred from the FCT Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service and rose through the ranks to become Deputy Controller-General of Fire in the Human Resource Directorate at the Service Headquarters.

He added that Adeyemi has completed all required in-service training, command courses, and other professional development programs both locally and internationally.

The statement also highlighted Adeyemi’s memberships and fellowships in several professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.

The Board expressed gratitude to the outgoing Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, for his significant contributions and dedicated service, commending the various initiatives he led during his tenure.
