On Monday, January 13, the Ogun State Police arrested two young men, Opeyemi Ibrahim and Dimeji Bakare, for allegedly obtaining goods under false pretenses from Christopher Chukwuma of Ijebu North Local Government Area.
The suspects, who are reportedly without legitimate sources of income, were detained while attempting to fraudulently purchase clothes worth N220,000 using fake bank transfers.
Further investigation revealed that one of the suspects had committed a similar crime in 2023, when he used fake transfers to purchase generators valued at N140,000.
Confirming the arrest, the police spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, stated that the suspects were apprehended with the fraudulent exhibits and that an investigation is ongoing. They will be charged in court once the investigation is concluded.
