The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested a young woman and three of her accomplices in connection with the gruesome murder of her boyfriend in Gidan Kacha village, Gada Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement released on Saturday, October 25, 2025, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufai, identified the victim as Ali Salisu, of Darnawa village, who was allegedly lured by his girlfriend, Rukayya Amadu, into a deadly trap. According to the police, Rukayya conspired with another lover, Hamisu Ibrahim, to rob and kill the victim.

The PPRO explained that the incident occurred on October 4, 2025, after Rukayya invited the unsuspecting Ali to a secluded area in the Dabagi bush under the pretext of a private meeting.

“Unknown to him, Rukayya had arranged with Hamisu to set a deadly trap. When the victim arrived, Hamisu ambushed him, tied a rope around his neck, and strangled him to death before fleeing with his red Kasea motorcycle,” the statement read.

Further investigation led to the arrest of two additional suspects, Lawali Abdullahi and Ibrahim Abdullahi, who were found in possession of the stolen motorcycle and allegedly attempted to sell it in Sokoto.

DSP Rufai confirmed that all four suspects are now in custody and will soon be charged in court for criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, armed robbery, and receiving stolen property.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Musa, commended the investigative team for their swift action, describing the case as “a painful reminder of how deceit and jealousy can destroy lives.”

“This case is both tragic and instructive. It shows how misplaced trust can end in disaster. We urge the public to exercise caution in personal relationships and avoid secluded areas, especially at night,” the CP said.

He also cautioned traders and buyers against purchasing motorcycles or vehicles without verifying ownership, stressing that receiving stolen property is a serious offence and ignorance would not be accepted as an excuse.
