Security operatives have arrested a 15-year-old herder in connection with the destruction of a farmland in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred at about 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, after authorities received a distress call reporting that cattle had invaded and damaged a farm belonging to one Benjamin Pam in Rakwok village.
Sources said personnel from Sub-Sector 41 in Gashish responded swiftly to the report. However, upon arriving at the scene, they discovered that the herders had fled with their cattle after spotting the approaching security team.
Security operatives immediately launched a pursuit, which led to the arrest of one of the herders, identified as 15-year-old Muhammadu Bashir.
The suspect is currently in custody while the relevant authorities begin the necessary legal and administrative processes.
Security sources added that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the other herders who escaped from the scene.
