Residents in the Tayi area of Minna, the capital of Niger state, came to the rescue of a newborn baby boy who was abandoned. The infant was discovered a few hours after being left by an unknown person on the evening of Saturday, December 2, 2023. According to Aliyu Bala Ibrahim, one of the residents, the baby was found wrapped in leather and left unclothed.

“This child, likely only a few hours old, was discovered abandoned just a few yards away from my house here in Tayi, Minna, Niger State. The infant was wrapped in leather and left without any clothing,” he stated. “Ants had already started crawling on him before he was found. This is the most tragic scene I’ve ever seen in my life. Capital punishment should be introduced against people who do this.”

Ibrahim added, “The umbilical cord is still attached to the baby. I believe he was born just a few hours ago. They didn’t even bathe him. They just washed the blood off his body and threw him away.”
