Wike made the remarks on Monday in Abuja during the commissioning of the Gwagwalada Civic Centre, followed by an interactive session with stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gwagwalada Area Council.
Describing critics of the political alliance as selfish and greedy, the minister questioned their capacity to bring people together.
“Some greedy and selfish politicians do not understand what we call unity. They have no capacity to hold their space, they have no capacity to even hold their families, and they have no capacity to hold their communities. So they can open their mouths and say there is no Rainbow Coalition,” Wike said.
He also challenged those opposing the alliance to explain why political leaders with different ideological and partisan affiliations could not work together in pursuit of broader public interests.
Wike described the political collaboration in Gwagwalada as a shift away from confrontational politics, stressing that the FCT needed cooperation among political stakeholders rather than unnecessary divisions.
He commended local political leaders for putting aside their party differences, noting that their collaboration demonstrated a willingness to prioritise collective interests over individual political ambitions.
Urging supporters to mobilise voters ahead of the forthcoming election, Wike called on political stakeholders to work together in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“On the day of the election, it will not be a day for market or fishing. It is the day all of us have decided to come together and demonstrate our strength through our votes. Go to the polling units, districts and communities and mobilise the people to vote for Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
