2027: Daniel Bwala Says Peter Obi Won’t Secure Presidential Ticket in ADC, PDP, or LP

Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, Daniel Bwala, has expressed strong confidence that the president will see a substantial increase in votes from the South-East region during the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on Channels Television’s current affairs program on Wednesday night, Bwala projected that Tinubu could secure up to two million votes in the South-East—an amount four to six times higher than the 127,370 votes he received there in the 2023 election.

“This is going to be like, I don’t know how to describe it, but let me take you zone by zone. You see the South-East, I guarantee you, President Bola Tinubu is going to get more than four times, if not six times, the value of the vote he got. He’ll get up to two million,” Bwala stated.

When asked how Tinubu could achieve this if Labour Party’s Peter Obi remains on the ballot, Bwala pointed to the region’s large voting population and suggested Obi’s influence has diminished.

He further claimed Obi would likely only secure a Director-General role within the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress (ADC), adding, “As I tell you, he’s not going to get a ticket in any of the parties (ADC, PDP, LP). That is Peter Obi. The problem now is that he might not even get the vice presidential ticket from the way things are going.”

Bwala also argued that Obi has lost over half of his previous support because his earlier votes were based on rhetoric and division rather than political agenda, noting, “Nigerian people’s eyes are open.”

Additionally, Bwala highlighted recent defections of southern governors to the APC and endorsements from governors in opposition parties as factors likely to boost Tinubu’s popularity and vote count in the South-East ahead of the election.
