
Operatives from the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 25 individuals suspected of internet fraud at an alleged cybercrime training center in Benin City, Edo State.
According to a statement released by the commission on Friday, the suspects were apprehended on Thursday, January 16, after a tip-off led to the discovery of the facility, which was reportedly being used as a “Yahoo academy” for internet fraud and other illicit activities.
Items seized from the suspects include six luxury cars, laptops, and mobile phones.
The statement also noted that the suspects will be charged in court once the investigation is completed.
