Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a 62-year-old woman found with a sack containing 178 live cartridges prepared for delivery.
Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe disclosed the arrest in a statement on Friday, October 31, 2025, identifying the woman as Charter Timide, who admitted buying the ammunition from Onitsha Main Market.
“On 30th October 2025 at about 12:30 hrs, operatives of the Bomadi Division, under the command of DPO CSP Adie Peter Bissong, during a joint stop-and-search operation with the Bomadi Vigilante, intercepted a motorcycle along the Bomadi–Tuomo Road,” the statement read.
“The cyclist, appearing uneasy, was transporting a 62-year-old woman, later identified as Charter Timide, to Tuomo Community. Upon a thorough search, officers discovered a concealed sack containing 178 live cartridges neatly packed for delivery.”
During interrogation, Timide admitted purchasing the cartridges from Onitsha Main Market, a well-known commercial hub. Her confession has prompted further intelligence efforts to trace the intended destination and purpose of the ammunition.
“The suspect and recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Headquarters for discreet investigation to determine possible links to armed groups or black-market suppliers,” SP Edafe added.
