Suspected gunmen have kidnapped Dr. Austin Uwumagbe, a medical practitioner working in Ogaminana, situated in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Dr. Uwumagbe was abducted shortly after he left Victory Hospital in Ogaminana on the night of Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
The Kogi State Chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) confirmed this incident through a statement released on Thursday, September 21.
In a joint statement issued by Dr. Baoku Olusola, the State NMA Chairman, and Dr. Emmanuel Bola Jonah, the State NMA Secretary, the association appealed for the immediate release of the kidnapped medical doctor.
The NMA strongly condemned this unfortunate and unacceptable act, stating, “We write to notify you of the kidnapping of our colleague, Dr. Austin Uwumagbe, who was said to have been abducted shortly after leaving his hospital (Victory Hospital-Annex) at Ogaminana, Adavi LGA of Kogi State. He was said to have been abducted with his car, an ash-colored 406 Peugeot with registration number DAV 561 AA, at about 8:30 pm last night, September 19, 2023.”
The association also mentioned that they have reported the matter to the relevant security agencies in the state.
