Declyn ‘Dex’ Lauper, the son of the renowned pop star Cyndi Lauper, has been arrested in New York City on charges related to the possession of a weapon and drugs.
Dex, aged 26, was apprehended following a shooting incident in Harlem around 7:15 p.m. in the vicinity of 135 W. 112th St., according to police sources cited by the New York Post. The incident involved a 24-year-old man who sustained a gunshot wound to his leg near an apartment building.
Upon investigation of the shooting, authorities took Dex into custody. The injured man was subsequently transported to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.
As of Thursday evening, Dex was scheduled for an arraignment at Manhattan Criminal Court, according to the outlet. However, officials have not confirmed whether Dex’s arrest is directly linked to the shooting.
Reports from ABC7 on Thursday evening indicated that the gun found in Dex’s possession at the time of his arrest was loaded.
