The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has introduced a 15% increase in port tariffs, marking the first such adjustment in 32 years.

The announcement was made on Thursday in Lagos during a stakeholders’ meeting to discuss the implementation of the new tariff rates.

NPA Managing Director Abubakar Dantsoho, represented by the Executive Director of Marine and Operations, Olalekan Badmus, stated that the agency had maintained the same tariff structure for over three decades, despite significant changes in the economy. These include fluctuations in exchange rates, rising wages, increases in fuel and lubricant costs, and inflation.

The tariff increase will affect all NPA operations, with the agency emphasizing that the adjustment is necessary to align with current economic conditions.
