The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has directed an immediate stop to the transfer of cases from Lagos and Ogun State commands to the zonal headquarters, instructing commissioners of police in both states to handle investigations within their jurisdictions.

The directive was announced on Thursday, April 16, during his first strategic security meeting with Commissioners of Police from Lagos and Ogun.

Jimoh stressed that keeping investigations at the state level would enhance efficiency, ensure quicker case resolution, and strengthen accountability.

He noted that complaints or allegations of misconduct would still be referred back to the respective state commands for review, with commissioners required to report their findings.

According to him, the zonal headquarters would only intervene by deploying specialised personnel when necessary to support complex investigations and ensure timely justice.

The AIG also stated that the security situation in Lagos and Ogun remains stable, highlighting notable achievements in crime control and prevention.

He urged both commands to intensify efforts in tackling violent crimes through proactive and community-focused policing approaches, noting that such strategies are already producing positive results.

Jimoh further warned officers to maintain professionalism and adhere strictly to operational guidelines, adding that any form of misconduct would attract disciplinary measures.
