The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a seven-hour power outage in parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). According to a statement from TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the outage will take place on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day.

This scheduled outage is due to annual preventive maintenance on two transformers at the Apo 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Abuja. Mbah explained that the maintenance will involve the 2x100MVA TR3 and TR4 transformers, during which time the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (Abuja DisCo) will not receive bulk power supply from these units.

The planned power disruptions will affect several areas, including the National Hospital, G2 Injection Station, Garki, Area 1, and Asokoro, as well as Apo Legislative Quarters, Apo Resettlement, Gudu, Apo Mechanic, and surrounding neighborhoods.

TCN assured customers that the outage is necessary for maintenance and that power will be restored once the process is completed. The company also apologized for any inconvenience caused to residents and businesses in the affected areas.
