The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won all chairmanship and councillorship seats across the 30 local government areas (LGAs) in Osun State.

The election for these positions took place on February 22.

The Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Hashim Abioye, confirmed the results on Saturday, February 22.

Despite calls from the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi, and the Police to halt the elections, the voting proceeded as scheduled.

The AGF had pointed out that the Court of Appeal in Akure, on February 10, 2025, annulled the judgment of the Federal High Court in Osogbo delivered on November 25, 2022. He noted that the appellate court’s ruling meant the All Progressives Congress (APC) local council chairmen, previously removed by the lower court, had been reinstated.

The Police also called for a suspension of the elections, citing intelligence reports of potential security threats during the vote.
