Power supply: Nigeria won’t fix it in three and a half years — Gov Dapo Abiodun

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has urged Nigerians to remain patient, noting that the challenges in the power sector cannot be fully resolved within three and a half years.

Speaking at the 2026 APC National Convention in Abuja on Friday, March 27, Abiodun acknowledged that electricity supply has been inconsistent in recent weeks.

“From the perspective of the average Nigerian, there have been issues with power supply lately, but we cannot achieve 100 percent stability within three and a half years,” he said.

Despite the difficulties, the governor insisted that progress is being made. “But overall, I believe we are moving in the right direction,” he added.

In recent months, Nigerians have experienced worsening power outages, largely linked to limited gas supply to thermal power plants.

Meanwhile, Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, recently apologised for the situation and assured citizens that electricity supply would improve within two weeks.
