President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn in Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF).
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, August 27, barely a week after the President announced Enitan’s appointment as the successor to Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack.
The Presidency announced Enitan’s appointment on August 19, 2026, with his tenure officially commencing on August 27.
Ahead of the transition, Enitan and his predecessor had met with President Tinubu at the State House on Friday, August 21, as part of preparations for the handover of leadership of the federal civil service.
Enitan, who hails from Osun State, was the most senior permanent secretary in the federal civil service when he was appointed to the position.
He had served as a permanent secretary for seven years and seven months, during which he was posted to the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President.
Before his appointment as Head of Service, Enitan served as the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education.
With his assumption of office, Enitan will oversee the federal civil service as the Tinubu administration continues to implement reforms aimed at strengthening efficiency, professionalism and service delivery.
The President has tasked the new Head of Service with consolidating existing reforms and innovations while further promoting professionalism, efficiency and improved performance across the federal civil service.
