
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended a 43-year-old man, Idowu Ashafa, over alleged possession of human body parts and suspected involvement in ritual activities in Igbesa.
The arrest was made on Friday, April 17, 2026.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the suspect was nabbed during a routine patrol led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Solotan K. Owolabi.
According to him, the suspect was intercepted with a fresh human head, two human palms, and other human remains hidden inside a nylon bag.
Babaseyi disclosed that preliminary investigations indicate the suspect allegedly exhumed the remains from a grave at Ido Itekun Village in Igbesa for ritual purposes.
“The arrest occurred in the early hours of April 17, 2026, during a routine patrol led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Solotan K. Owolabi. The suspect was found in possession of a fresh human head, two human palms, and other human remains concealed in a nylon bag,” he said.
“Initial findings suggest that the suspect exhumed the body parts from a grave at Ido Itekun Village for ritual purposes. The implement used in carrying out the act has been recovered, and the scene has been visited and documented.”
He added that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
Babaseyi reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities in the state and urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious movements to the nearest police station.
