A joint security team has successfully rescued the remaining 13 passengers who were abducted by bandits on the night of Wednesday, April 15.
The victims were kidnapped along the Makurdi–Otukpo road in Benue State while travelling in a Benue Links bus from Makurdi to Otukpo when the vehicle came under attack.
The State Commissioner of Police, Ifeanyi Emenari, confirmed the development, stating that the rescued victims will be brought to the state capital later today, where a press briefing is expected to take place.
Initial reports suggested that the victims were JAMB candidates, but the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board refuted the claim in a statement issued on Saturday, April 18.
