The body of missing U.S. politician Barry Christian has been discovered in rural Oklahoma.

Christian, a 54-year-old Republican Senate candidate for District 38, was found dead on Thursday, April 30—two days after he was reported missing, according to a campaign statement cited by KOCO.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation confirmed that his 2024 charcoal gray Ram truck was located just off Highway 30, south of Erick, with a body inside. The vehicle was discovered near a ravine close to the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area. Due to the difficult terrain, authorities have not yet been able to recover the body, delaying formal identification.

A campaign sign bearing Christian’s name was also seen discarded nearby as officials searched the area. The exact circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, and investigators have not yet provided further details.

Christian had been reported missing on Tuesday after failing to attend a scheduled meeting. According to the Harmon County Sheriff’s Office, he was last seen driving his Ram truck.

His final social media post, shared on Saturday, invited residents to a meet-and-greet at the Mangum Oklahoma Rattlesnake Festival to discuss community issues. His campaign described him as a “conservative choice” for District 38, pledging alignment with Donald Trump and a commitment to traditional conservative values.

In a statement to KOCO, his daughter, Brooklyn Christian, said the family is struggling to come to terms with the loss. She asked for prayers and urged the public to treat her father’s legacy with dignity, while also expressing gratitude to those who helped in the search efforts.
