The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man, Usman Isah, over alleged links to banditry and recovered charms believed to be used in criminal activities.

The command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, April 30, 2026. He explained that the suspect was apprehended after allegedly making threatening phone calls to a resident, demanding ₦10 million and warning that he would be killed if the money was not paid.

According to the statement, the case was reported at the Musawa Division on April 9, 2026, by a victim identified as Abdullahi Abdullahi (name withheld). The complainant said he received multiple threatening calls on April 6 from unknown numbers, which left him fearing for his life.

Police investigators acted on the report and arrested Isah in connection with the threats, recovering charms said to have been used to facilitate his activities. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to the crime and revealed that he worked alongside his brother, who is currently on the run. He also admitted to previous involvement in similar offences.

The Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, has ordered intensified efforts to track down the fleeing accomplice and reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling banditry and those who support it.

Authorities said the suspect will be charged in court once investigations are completed, while efforts continue to apprehend other individuals linked to the case.

The police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest station or through the command’s emergency lines.
