Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal worth up to £100 million ($133 million) to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United, setting a new club transfer record for the second time in just a few days.

According to ESPN, Tottenham’s opening offer of around £75 million was rejected by Newcastle. However, negotiations continued, and Spurs returned with an improved proposal that matched the Magpies’ valuation.

The agreement includes an initial payment of £92.5 million, with an additional £7.5 million in performance-related add-ons tied to the club’s qualification for European competitions.

Personal terms are not expected to pose any obstacles, with reports indicating that the Italy international midfielder is open to making the move to north London.

The agreement for Tonali comes just a day after Tottenham struck an £85 million deal with West Ham United to sign Mateus Fernandes.

Before these deals, Tottenham’s most expensive signing was Dominic Solanke, who joined from AFC Bournemouth for £65 million in 2024.

Spurs have also strengthened their squad with the arrival of Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton & Hove Albion, while Martin Dúbravka, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson arrived on free transfers. The club has also agreed a £50 million deal that will see Luka Vušković join Brighton.
