Poland striker Robert Lewandowski has surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo’s record as the oldest player to score a hat-trick in the UEFA Nations League.

The 38-year-old scored three times as Poland thrashed Romania 6-0 in Warsaw, finding the net in the 24th, 47th and 86th minutes to complete his hat-trick and set a new age record in the competition.

Lewandowski was 38 years and 42 days old when he scored his third goal, surpassing Ronaldo’s previous record. The Portugal captain was 34 years and 120 days old when he scored a hat-trick against Switzerland in the 2019 Nations League semi-final.

The performance also marked Lewandowski’s record-extending 170th appearance for Poland and took his international goals tally to 92.
