“Abducted NDLEA Director in Anambra Regains Freedom”

Mr. Daniel Onyishi, the Anambra State Director of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has regained his freedom after spending several days in captivity.

Onyishi was abducted in the early hours of June 12, 2025, along Winner Road in Awka. His release was confirmed on Sunday, June 22, by the spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.

According to Ikenga, the NDLEA director is now in safe custody and receiving medical care.

“The Police, in collaboration with sister agencies—particularly a high-powered covert team of NDLEA operatives led by Zone 12 Commander, Mrs. Florence Ezeonye—spearheaded aggressive rescue efforts that led to his safe return,” the statement read.
