The All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victory in 20 of the 23 local government areas during the Chairmanship and Councillorship elections held in Rivers State on Saturday, August 30.
The ruling party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), won only three LGAs in the polls conducted by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
Dr. Michael Odey, Chairman of RSIEC, announced the results at the commission’s headquarters on Aba Road, Port Harcourt, on Sunday afternoon, August 31.
Odey also declared the winners of the vice chairmanship elections, while the results for the councillorship elections are yet to be released.
