The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, Ondo State, on Thursday, July 31, affirmed the election of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the duly elected governor of Ondo State in the November 16, 2024 governorship poll conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A three-member panel of justices, led by Justice Yargata Nimpar, unanimously upheld the decision of the Ondo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which had earlier validated Aiyedatiwa’s victory.

The appellate court dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Agboola Ajayi, ruling that the case lacked merit. Justice Nimpar, delivering the lead judgment, described the appeal as unsubstantiated and affirmed Aiyedatiwa’s election.
