Authorities in Imo discover a kidnappers’ hideout, retrieving the remains of two victims in an advanced state of decomposition.

Acting on credible information, the Imo State Police Command Special Tactical Unit, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Aboki Danjuma, collaborated with local hunters to raid a suspected kidnapper’s hideout situated in a forest between Avu and Ihiagwa on January 29. The operation resulted in the apprehension of five alleged kidnappers: Muazu Awuta (30), Abdullahi Abubakar (32), Ozeru Sabo (25), Saddam Suleiman (27), and Bashir Yahaya (28), all hailing from Jau Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

In the course of combing the forest, the police spokesperson disclosed that two decomposing bodies, yet to be identified, were discovered, suspected to be victims of kidnapping. Additionally, various items such as phones, wristwatches, shoes, slippers, and five operational motorcycles belonging to the suspects were recovered. The command plans to conduct DNA confirmatory tests to establish the identity of the deceased.

The arrested suspects are currently undergoing investigation, and they have provided valuable information to the police, aiding in the ongoing efforts to apprehend other members of the syndicate who remain at large.
