The 33-year-old striker received the honour at the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony in London on Monday night. His victory also makes him the first player from Germany’s Bundesliga to win the award since Borussia Dortmund’s Matthias Sammer in 1996.
Kane enjoyed a remarkable season, scoring 73 goals across all competitions for Bayern Munich and England to secure the European Golden Shoe.
He also played a key role in Bayern’s domestic double, helping the club win both the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal. In the Champions League, Kane netted 14 goals before Bayern were eliminated in the semi-finals by eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain.
At international level, Kane captained England at the World Cup, where they finished third, recording their best performance since winning the tournament in 1966.
He scored six goals during the competition, including two late strikes that rescued England against DR Congo and another goal against Mexico at the Azteca Stadium in the round of 16.
