Bandits seize 17 individuals in Niger state.

On Wednesday, January 16, bandits carried out separate attacks in Garam town and Zhibi community, both situated in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State, resulting in the abduction of about 17 residents. According to reports by Daily Trust, 14 individuals were taken from Garam, located along the Sabon-Wuse-Bwari road, while three others were abducted in Zhibi, a community neighboring Dei-Dei town in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The vigilante group commander in Garam, Dantani Daniel, disclosed that the bandits targeted the Sabon-Unguwa area of the community around 1 am, taking their victims from various houses before swiftly leaving the area within less than an hour. Additionally, it was reported that the assailants attacked the residence of a serving policeman in the community, firing shots at him. The injured officer was subsequently taken to Kubwa General Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment and responding positively.
