Police successfully thwart attack on Benue village, eliminating two armed bandits in the process.

Benue State Police Command operatives have successfully neutralized two bandits and thwarted an attack on Tse Gaagum village in Ukemberegya council ward, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The armed bandits launched the attack on the village during the early hours of Wednesday, January 17, 2024, seizing motorcycles and other valuables. Responding promptly to a distress call from the villagers, security operatives engaged the bandits in a pursuit.

According to a source, “The bandits stormed the village around 4 am on Wednesday and took away motorcycles and other valuables.” Fortunately, law enforcement officers managed to track them down, resulting in the elimination of one bandit and the recovery of a motorcycle.

Joseph Har, the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Security and Internal Affairs, confirmed the incident and commended the swift response of the security operatives. “I got the information that security men in Logo who received a distress call from residents of Tse Gaagum village early hours of today (Wednesday) shot dead one of the bandits who attacked the community,” Joseph stated.

He further revealed that items recovered from the gunmen included a locally fabricated AK-47 with six live ammunition, a machete, and assorted charms. The bodies of the deceased bandits have been retrieved and deposited at the NKST morgue in Ugba, Logo LGA. Efforts are underway to track down the fleeing suspects.
