The Cross River State Commissioner for Power, Dr Eka Williams Abang, has reportedly died, leaving his family, friends and members of his native Akparabong community in Ikom Local Government Area in mourning.
Family sources said the commissioner died at his residence in Abuja, where he was reportedly receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.
His younger brother, Williams Nkang, expressed shock and disbelief over the sudden loss, saying he was still struggling to come to terms with the fact that his brother, who was recently with the family, had passed away.
In an emotional tribute shared on Facebook, Nkang described the deceased as not only his elder brother but also a companion and an important part of the family.
He said the death had created a void that words could hardly describe, while celebrating his brother’s life, relationships, contributions and legacy.
Nkang also recalled their shared memories and expressed his wish that the news was only a dream, adding that he would have given anything for one more conversation and an opportunity to tell his brother how much he loved him.
Despite his grief, he said he was choosing to hold on to his faith in God and quoted Psalm 116:15: “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants.”
He prayed for his late brother to rest peacefully, saying his memory would continue to live on among his family, friends and everyone whose life he touched.
