The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tin-Can Island Command, has thwarted an attempt by a criminal syndicate to smuggle arms and ammunition into the country.

The illicit items were uncovered during a routine inspection of imported consignments. Among the seized items were automatic single-barrel rifles, pump-action guns, military camouflage, and substances suspected to be illicit drugs.

This interception marks another significant success for the NCS, occurring just eight months after the arrest of two suspects involved in the illegal importation of 31 arms of various types at Tin-Can and Multi-Purpose Terminals (PTML) ports in Lagos, as announced by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi.
