Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have apprehended a suspect in connection with the attack on a church in Kogi State.
The suspect, identified as Shafiu Usman, is alleged to have masterminded the deadly assault on the First ECWA Church in Ayetoro Kiri, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, on December 14, 2025.
A source within the DSS confirmed the arrest to Channels Television but declined to disclose details regarding the location or circumstances of the arrest.
Gunmen suspected to be terrorists had stormed the First Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) during a worship service on the same date, firing indiscriminately and causing panic among congregants.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers struck while the service was ongoing, prompting many worshippers to flee. An unspecified number of congregants were reportedly abducted and taken through nearby bush paths.
The incident threw the community into chaos, with residents scrambling for safety amid sustained gunfire.
