The Secretary to the Niger State Government, Abubakar Usman, announced the death in a statement released on August 7, confirming that Musa died in Abuja after a brief illness.
“Senator Ibrahim Musa died today (Thursday) in Abuja, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service to his people and the nation,” Usman said. “His passing is a great loss not only to Kontagora Emirate but to the entire state and nation. We pray that Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest and gives his family, the Emirate, and all who mourn him the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.”
Usman also extended the government’s condolences to the late senator’s family and constituents, describing the loss as deeply felt across the state.
A legal practitioner, Ibrahim Musa was elected to the Nigerian Senate in 2011 under the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). He won the seat representing Niger North Senatorial District with 131,872 votes, defeating the then-incumbent senator Nuhu Aliyu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 83,778 votes.
