The FCT Police Command has handed over recovered illicit drugs and substances, along with arrested suspects, to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), FCT Command.

The handover was carried out on Friday, August 21, 2026, by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between security and law enforcement agencies in the Federal Capital Territory.

Speaking during the exercise, Sanusi said although the Police have the authority to investigate and prosecute drug-related offences, the Command considers it important to maintain strong collaboration with the NDLEA, whose statutory responsibility includes investigating and prosecuting offences involving illicit drugs.

Receiving the suspects and recovered substances on behalf of the NDLEA FCT Strategic Command, its Public Relations Officer, ACN Samuel Orji, commended the Commissioner for promoting inter-agency cooperation.

Orji assured that the suspects would undergo proper investigation and, where appropriate, be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with sister security agencies and other stakeholders to protect residents and maintain security across the Federal Capital Territory.

The Command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through its emergency lines.
