The Federal Government has arraigned Adeniyi Adeyemi, Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, over alleged forgery.

Adeyemi was arraigned before Justice Muhammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, September 30, on an eight-count charge bordering on alleged forgery.

The Federal Government accused him of forging an appointment letter purportedly issued by President Bola Tinubu and signed by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.

He was also accused of forging presidential letterhead paper.

According to the charges, Adeyemi allegedly forged a request for collaboration with the Ministry of the Area Council, as well as requests for land allocation and office space across the 36 states of the federation. The documents were allegedly presented as having been issued by the State House in Abuja.

When the charges were read to him in court, Adeyemi pleaded not guilty.

Following his plea, the court ordered that he be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre.

The court further ordered that Adeyemi remain in custody pending the hearing and determination of his bail application.
