Traders in the popular Onitsha Main Market, located on Ifejika Street near Sokoto Road in Anambra State, are currently assessing their losses after a fire broke out in their shops on March 28.
The fire, which reportedly started in one building around 6:20 am, quickly spread to a neighboring structure, destroying everything in its path. The cause and other details surrounding the outbreak are still unclear at the time of this report.
Chukwudi Chiketa, the head of the media and publicity unit of the Anambra State Fire Service, confirmed the incident and stated that fire service personnel were promptly deployed to contain the blaze.
