Former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer Says She Used AI to Identify What’s Special About Her Daughter

Former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has faced online criticism after revealing that she turned to artificial intelligence for help describing her daughter in a school assignment.

According to TMZ’s report on her interview with The New York Times, Mayer recounted the experience while discussing Dazzle AI, her personal assistant app for mobile phones.

She said that in 2025, a teacher asked her to identify three qualities that made her nine-year-old daughter special. Struggling to come up with answers, Mayer consulted the app, which suggested “empathetic,” “creative” and “animal lover.”

Her account sparked debate on social media, with some users questioning why she needed AI to identify personal qualities about her own child. Others suggested the story may have been exaggerated to generate publicity.

The reactions reflected differing opinions about Mayer’s use of AI for a personal task, rather than established facts about her relationship with her daughter. Mayer served as Yahoo’s chief executive from 2012 to 2017.
