Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has invited the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, along with other lawmakers, to a meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday. The invitation, delivered through a letter dated March 7, was issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo.

This meeting follows the Supreme Court’s ruling that reinstated the Amaewhule-led faction of the Assembly, which is aligned with former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. In the letter, Governor Fubara acknowledged the court’s judgment and extended the invitation to the lawmakers.

The letter reads, “And he has, therefore, directed to invite you and your colleagues, the Honourable members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, to a meeting.”

The discussions are expected to focus on securing an appropriate venue for Assembly sittings, addressing outstanding remuneration and allowances, and other legislative matters. This development marks a key step toward resolving the ongoing political tensions in the state.
