Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has inaugurated an 11-member investigative panel to probe the alleged sale of the Nigerian Meat and Allied Products (NIMAP) Abattoir, which reportedly took place during the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Located in the Chalawa Industrial Area, the NIMAP facility was originally established under former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso with the goal of boosting state revenue and generating employment through meat processing and allied services.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday at the Cabinet Office, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Faruq Ibrahim, emphasized the need to hold the previous administration accountable for the alleged illegal disposal of state-owned infrastructure.

“The current administration has a duty to protect public assets that were allegedly auctioned off for personal gain,” the SSG stated.

The investigative committee will be chaired by Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimin-Gado, a former chairman of the State Anti-Corruption Agency. The panel has been tasked with recovering public assets and recommending disciplinary or legal actions against those found responsible.

According to Ibrahim, the committee’s mandate includes:

  • Investigating the sale of land and equipment at the NIMAP Abattoir.

  • Reviewing all relevant documents, agreements, and approvals related to the transaction.

  • Assessing compliance with applicable laws and due process.

  • Determining the involvement and liability of individuals, organizations, or agencies.

  • Recommending legal, administrative, or disciplinary action against those implicated.

  • Verifying the legality and fairness of the sale process, including valuation and pricing.

  • Proposing measures to prevent future incidents of asset misappropriation.

  • Suggesting steps toward establishing a modern, internationally compliant meat processing facility.

Other members of the panel include:
