The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved a further extension of the grace period for enforcing the Tinted Glass Permit requirement for vehicles with tinted windows. The new enforcement deadline is now set for October 2, 2025.

According to a statement from the Force spokesperson, DCP Muyiwa Adejobi, this decision follows a significant increase in applications submitted through the official portal, demonstrating growing public compliance with the directive. The extension is intended to allow ample time for thorough verification of applications, ensuring permits are granted only to eligible individuals in line with national security protocols.

Adejobi also noted that the extension will enable ongoing improvements to both digital and physical verification processes to uphold the permit system’s integrity and prevent misuse. The Nigeria Police Force reiterated that the only authorized platform for application is https://possap.gov.ng and warned the public to avoid unofficial channels.

Members of the public are urged to report any cases of extortion, hidden fees, or unauthorized processing to the Police via the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.
