Gunmen have fatally shot an officer of the NDLEA in Sokoto.

Gunmen, operating along the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport road in Sokoto, have reportedly abducted three individuals after fatally shooting an operative of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

According to an eyewitness, Muhammad Baba Usman, whose son was among the captives, the gunmen attacked around 9:30 pm on Thursday, February 22. Usman described the assailants as four individuals armed with guns, who arrived in a car parked by the roadside. They opened fire indiscriminately, resulting in the death of one person from a stray bullet while en route to the hospital.

Usman added that the gunmen abducted three other individuals, including his son, and the families are awaiting communication from the abductors regarding their demands.

The spokesperson of the Sokoto Police Command, ASP Ahmed Rufa’i, confirmed that the deceased was an official of the NDLEA, who was returning to the state’s metropolis at the time of the attack. Rufa’i assured that the police are actively pursuing the attackers.
