The accused individuals, identified as Lucky Oghenebrume, 53, and Omobowho Okpowodo, 52, were apprehended by the Operation Puff Adder unit in November 2023 at Mbiama community in Rivers State, following extensive intelligence gathering and thorough investigations.

During their appearance in court, both suspects pleaded not guilty. However, a police prosecutor informed the court that Oghenebrume was believed to be the mastermind and was on the wanted list of the State Police Command for his alleged involvement in the abduction of an individual named Fyneman in Sagbama area, where a ransom of N50 million was reportedly paid. Additionally, it was revealed that Oghenebrume had relocated his family to Delta State in an attempt to evade arrest.

The second suspect, Omobowho Okpowodo, was identified as the owner of a motor mechanic workshop where the intended victim, Ayama, frequently had his vehicles repaired. Okpowodo was allegedly heard planning the abduction of Ayama while he was traveling from Ekeremor Local Government Area.

The presiding Judge, Justice Timipre Songi, adjourned the case until February 27 for further proceedings.
