Gunmen believed to be kidnappers have abducted Engr. Lucky Ugbo, a government contractor, in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The incident reportedly occurred around 8:45 pm more than four days ago at Ugbo’s residence on Isah Road in the community.

On Sunday, July 13, the kidnappers contacted Ugbo’s family, initially demanding a ransom of N200 million, which they later lowered to N100 million.

According to sources close to Ugbo’s home, heavily armed gunmen disguised as security personnel carried out the kidnapping. They had been lying in wait in an unfinished building near his house.

“He was returning home when they stopped him just as his wife came out to open the front door,” a source revealed.

The kidnappers fired shots into the air before forcibly leading Ugbo away on foot into the darkness.

“Many neighbors observed the scene from a distance and initially thought the men were security agents,” the source added.

Since the abduction, the kidnappers have called Ugbo’s wife twice—first demanding N200 million on Sunday and then reducing the demand to N100 million on Monday morning.

SP Bright Edafe, spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, confirmed the abduction and said, “Yes, it’s confirmed. The police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the kidnappers and secure the victim’s release.”
