The Kebbi State Hisbah Board has rescued a newborn baby who was abandoned behind Zinari Hotel in Birnin Kebbi.

The Director of Shari’a at the Kebbi State Hisbah Board, Surajo Usman Kamba, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Kamba said the board received a report on Monday morning that an infant had been abandoned in the area.

According to the statement, the baby was found in a critical condition and was immediately rescued, with necessary steps taken to ensure the child’s safety.

The infant was subsequently taken to the appropriate care facility for urgent medical attention, while security agencies launched an investigation to identify those responsible for the abandonment.

The Hisbah Board appealed to residents to continue supporting its efforts by reporting incidents that could help safeguard lives and uphold the dignity of the community.

It also urged parents and caregivers to exercise responsibility and seek lawful solutions to challenges rather than resorting to acts that violate both religious and legal principles.
