Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has shared a personal testimony about a near-death experience he faced during an evangelism program at his church seven years ago.

Adeboye recalled how he collapsed in Ilesha, and the situation worsened due to the poor road conditions. He spoke about the ordeal during a church service, revealing that it was the first time in his life that he spent Christmas in bed due to the health crisis.

He recounted that after collapsing in Ilesha, he was airlifted to the church camp for the program. However, there were attempts to prevent the helicopter from taking off, which led to the damage of one of its windows.

He said, “Seven years ago, during this same program, my body broke down completely due to the terrible road conditions. For the first time in my life, I spent Christmas Day in bed. The devil was certain he had finally got me.”

“I collapsed in Ilesha, and to bring me back to the camp, we had to charter a helicopter. I was too weak to travel by road—if I had, I wouldn’t have made it.”

“Seven years later, I am still here! I want you to thank God for sparing my life,” Adeboye added, urging the congregation to give thanks for his survival.
