Nigerian singer Omah Lay has opened up about his struggle to quit smoking, admitting that despite several attempts, he has been unable to stop.
Speaking during a recent conversation, the singer said he enjoys smoking but has repeatedly tried to give it up.
“I can’t even lie, I love smoking a lot, but I want, I try to stop. I want to stop. I fought myself,” he said.
Omah Lay explained that he has since decided not to put excessive pressure on himself, noting that life is short and everyone will eventually die.
He also discussed the experience of smoking weed in Nigeria, where cannabis remains illegal, saying the situation can make young people feel like criminals.
The singer described the happiness he experiences from smoking as “artificial happiness” but said he ultimately wants to enjoy his life and the things that bring him peace.
